The Responsible Finance Institute launches website

Following the financial crisis, it was apparent that the link between risk and reward had been broken and needed to be rebuilt with ethics and morals at its heart. The financial crisis illustrated in stark fashion that ethics and business are not adversaries and that ultimately they need each other.

It is within this context that ‘responsible’ finance practices—and the Responsible Finance Institute—can play a powerful role in shaping the future of the global economy. The aim of the RFI is to bring together various forms of responsible finance practices, encouraging consensus as the basis for convergence between standards, practices and regulations. The founding trustees of the RFI see a major opportunity for the RFI to expand the responsible finance sector by including the ethical and socially responsible principles of Islamic finance and engaging asset owners and institutional investors who drive the financial services sector.

Beginning with the official launch of the Responsible Finance Institute at the Global Ethical Finance Forum in Edinburgh, Scotland, the RFI will organize roundtables, symposia & working groups with global policymakers, market participants & Institute Trustees to shape an analytical perspective. It will also organize large-scale events followed by more focused sessions with institutional investors.

The Responsible Finance Institute has applied with the UK Charities Commission as a Registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (application pending). All inquiries about the organization, its vision, mission, future activities or other content on this website should be directed to info@rf-institute.org.
